Position Description
The Senior Director, Membership & Strategic Partnerships is responsible for accelerating the growth and financial sustainability of One Mind at Work by leading enterprise membership business development, strategic partnerships, and corporate sponsorships. The role will focus primarily on cultivating and recruiting large employers in the San Francisco Bay Area and across California, while supporting national growth opportunities as appropriate.
Reporting to the Vice President of One Mind at Work, the Senior Director will develop and own a portfolio of high-value prospective and current employer relationships, lead executive-level business development conversations, and build a disciplined pipeline from initial outreach through signed membership and sponsorship agreements. The Senior Director will also recruit employers to participate in the Bay Area Coalition and help shape its member value proposition.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Enterprise Membership Business Development
· Develop and execute an annual business development plan focused on recruiting new large-employer members, with a primary emphasis on the San Francisco Bay Area and California at large.
· Build relationships with senior decision-makers, including CFOs, CHROs, Chief People Officers, benefits and well-being leaders, medical leaders, and other executives responsible for workforce strategy.
· Personally manage a portfolio of high-priority prospects from market identification and initial outreach through discovery, proposal development, negotiation, and signed membership agreements.
· Lead compelling executive presentations and consultative sales conversations that connect One Mind at Work offerings to employer priorities, organizational performance, and employee well-being.
· Identify opportunities for multi-year memberships, expanded participation, and enterprise-level partnerships/sponsorships, working closely with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and Chief Financial & Operating Officer (CFOO) of One Mind to create organizational alignment.
· Partner with marketing and program colleagues to develop employer-facing campaigns, sales materials, case studies, and thought leadership that support lead generation and conversion.
2. Bay Area Coalition Member Recruitment
· Recruit a strong and diverse group of large Bay Area employers to form and sustain the One Mind at Work Bay Area Coalition.
· Use coalition participation as an entry point for building long-term membership and partnership relationships with prospective employers.
· Engage prospective coalition members to understand their priorities, articulate the coalition value proposition, and convert qualified organizations into active participants and, where appropriate, broader One Mind at Work members.
· Partner with designated program staff who will lead coalition operations, programming, facilitation, logistics, and the ongoing participant experience.
· Bring market and employer insights back to the program team to help ensure coalition programming remains relevant to senior corporate leaders.
3. Strategic Partnerships & Sponsorship Development
· Identify and cultivate corporate sponsors for One Mind at Work initiatives, the Bay Area Coalition, the Annual Global Forum, executive convenings, research translation, and other strategic opportunities.
· Develop customized partnership and sponsorship concepts that align corporate priorities with One Mind at Work’s mission and programmatic assets.
· Lead or support proposal development, pricing, negotiation, and closing in coordination with the Vice President and One Mind’s Development team.
· Cultivate existing corporate partners and sponsors to increase annual support, broaden engagement, and create multi-year relationships.
· Ensure sponsorship commitments are clearly documented and effectively transitioned to internal teams responsible for fulfillment and stewardship.
4. Pipeline, CRM & Performance Management
· Own the business development pipeline and maintain accurate, timely prospect and relationship data in the CRM.
· Work with CFOO and CDO to establish clear stages, activity expectations, revenue forecasts, and conversion targets for membership and sponsorship opportunities.
· Prepare regular pipeline, forecast, and performance reports for the Vice President and organizational leadership.
· Use data to evaluate lead sources, sales velocity, conversion rates, renewal performance, and return on business development activity.
5. Strategic Leadership & External Representation
· Serve as a senior member of the One Mind at Work leadership team and a trusted thought partner to the Vice President on growth strategy, market positioning, and partnership opportunities.
· Represent One Mind at Work with senior corporate leaders, partners, sponsors, and collaborators at meetings, conferences, and executive convenings.
· Monitor trends in workforce mental health, employee benefits, employer strategy, and corporate well-being to strengthen the program’s market relevance.
· Translate evidence-based workplace mental health practices into clear, employer-relevant business value propositions.
· Collaborate across One Mind’s Development, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and program teams to ensure coordinated relationship management and strong execution.
Measures of Success
· New large-employer memberships and annual membership revenue generated
· Bay Area Coalition employer recruitment and quality of participating organizations
· Corporate sponsorship revenue and multi-year partnership commitments secured
· Membership renewal, expansion, and executive engagement within assigned accounts
· Qualified pipeline value, forecast accuracy, conversion rate, and sales cycle performance
Qualifications
Required
· Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
· 5+ years of progressive experience in corporate business development, enterprise sales, strategic partnerships, membership development, or a closely related field.
· Demonstrated success developing and closing business with large employers or similarly complex organizations.
· Experience engaging executive-level corporate decision-makers and navigating multi-stakeholder sales processes.
· Strong consultative selling, relationship-building, presentation, negotiation, and written communication skills.
· Experience building and managing a disciplined pipeline using a CRM platform, including forecasting and performance reporting.
· Ability to operate strategically while maintaining consistent follow-through, accountability, and attention to detail.
· Ability to travel regularly for employer meetings, networking opportunities, and One Mind events.
Preferred
· Experience in membership or benefits-related business development, including employer associations, employee benefits, HR services or technology, health and well-being, consulting, or related sectors.
· Existing relationships with large employers and senior HR, benefits, medical, or people leaders in the San Francisco Bay Area.
· Experience developing corporate sponsorships, strategic partnerships, or multi-year agreements.
· Experience working in a nonprofit, association, coalition, or mission-driven environment.
· Familiarity with workplace mental health, employee well-being, organizational performance, or population health.
· Master’s degree in business, public health, organizational psychology, human resources, or a related field.
Location, Work Environment, and Travel
· This position is designed to support strategic growth throughout California, with a primary focus on the San Francisco Bay Area. Candidates must reside in Northern California.
· The role requires regular in-person and remote meetings with prospective members, current members, sponsors, and partners throughout the Bay Area.
· Additional travel is required for the Annual Global Forum, One Mind Music Festival, biannual One Mind all-staff meetings, member meetings, conferences, and other key convenings.
· This role may be structured as remote or hybrid within California based on organizational needs and the selected candidate’s location.

Pay: $145,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
