Position: FoH Support Staff (Host, Food Runner, Busser)

What are we about?
Nokomis House is a premier dining establishment located in the Diamond Lake neighborhood of Minneapolis. Nokomis, referring to the neighborhood and nearby lake, is of Ojibwe origin and translates to my grandmother meaning that Nokomis House translates to my grandmother's house.
NH offers elevated American comfort food with nods to La Familia Tapatia’s Mexican restaurants La Tapatia (Roseville) and La Madre (Mill District Minneapolis), as well as a comprehensive drinks menu that appeals to all kinds. Responsibilities:
- Food Delivery:
- Deliver food orders from the kitchen to guests promptly and accurately.
- Ensure that all dishes are presented according to the restaurant’s standards.
- Confirm that orders are complete and correct before serving.
- Familiarize oneself with table and seat numbers to provide smooth service.
- Guest Interaction:
- Greet guests warmly and assist with any immediate needs or requests.
- Provide the name and a brief description of the dishes served, highlighting key ingredients or preparation methods.
- Assist guests with any additional requests or inquiries, ensuring their satisfaction.
- Thank guests as they are leaving.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinate with kitchen staff and servers to ensure efficient service and timely delivery of orders.
- Notify servers and kitchen staff of any delays or issues with orders.
- Table Maintenance:
- Assist with clearing and resetting tables while maintaining a clean and organized dining area.
- Ensure that guests have the necessary utensils, condiments, and other table settings.
- Monitor table and dining area cleanliness, promptly addressing any spills or messes.
- Support Duties:
- Assist servers and other staff with tasks as needed, such as watering tables, restocking supplies, or doing simple cleaning and organizing tasks when slow.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on restaurant policies and menu changes.
*Note: Support Staff at NH will be trained in and expected to be able and willing to perform well in all of the above areas on any given day. Ex. Host focus, food run focus, etc.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a customer facing role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, focusing on providing exceptional customer service.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- You enjoy talking to and getting to know new people or have enjoyed customer interaction in past roles.
- High level of physical stamina, able to stand for long periods.
- Positive attitude and a team player mentality.
- Growth mindset!
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be available for training Thursday, June 18 - Friday, June 19 and Tuesday, June 23 – Friday, June 26 (partial days).
- Must be transparent about summer vacation plans at the time of interview.
