RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure Range Safety at All Times
- Enforce all range rules, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Observe all shooters for proper muzzle discipline, trigger finger placement, and safe weapon manipulation
- Intervene when unsafe handling is observed
- Ensure firearms are cleared and made safe when required
- Deliver pre-shoot safety briefings covering range rules and safety
- Ensure all participants understand commands and safety requirements
- Verify use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye and ear protection
- Remove individuals from the range if safety rules are violated
Respond to Emergencies
- Act as the first responder for medical or safety incidents
- Execute emergency action plans (EAP)
- Coordinate with emergency services when required
General Range Support
- Identify and report hazards or maintenance issues
- Assist instructors with range setup, drills, and logistics
- Help maintain a controlled and professional training environment
Maintain Documentation
- Record incidents, accidents, or rule violations
- Complete range logs and operational reports as required
- Other duties as assigned
This is not a trainer position.
Requirements
- Commitment to safety
- Proven outdoor work experience with a strong understanding of firearm handling and safety procedures
- A current NRA or USCCA Range Safety Officer certification prior to start
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, and Vital Signs monitoring, a plus
- Excellent communication skills for customer service interactions
- Writing skills for incident reports, compliance documentation, and safety protocols updates
- Reading skills
- Transportation to and from work
