Responsibilities
- Dispense prescriptions accurately while adhering to all federal and state pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Provide comprehensive patient counseling on medication usage, potential side effects, and interactions to promote safe and effective therapy.
- Manage pharmacy inventory efficiently, including stock replenishment, medication compounding, and ensuring compliance with USP 797 standards for sterile preparations.
- Conduct patient assessments to determine appropriate therapy plans, including immunizations, pain management, and chronic disease management.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication regimens and support medical management initiatives.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff, ensuring adherence to pharmacy operations policies and maintaining a high standard of patient service.
- Maintain accurate documentation in Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS), Electronic Health Records (EHR), and other medical record systems while safeguarding patient confidentiality according to HIPAA policies.
- Ensure compliance with all pharmaceutical regulatory requirements, including drug regulation standards and pharmacy practice guidelines.
- Participate in community outreach programs to promote health awareness and vaccination initiatives.
- Stay current with evolving healthcare compliance standards, including immunizations, IV infusion techniques, aseptic procedures, and physiology knowledge.
Qualifications
- Valid pharmacist license in good standing with relevant state authority.
- Prior experience practicing as a licensed pharmacist in community or hospital settings; LTC (Long-Term Care) or acute care experience is highly valued.
- Demonstrated proficiency with pharmacy software systems, EMR/EHR platforms, and Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS).
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, drug regulation policies, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA.
- Experience managing pharmacy teams or supervising support staff is preferred.
- Critical care experience or residency training enhances your ability to provide advanced clinical services.
- Certification in immunizations and Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications in sterile compounding or IV insertion are advantageous.
- Excellent client communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence.
- Ability to perform medication administration tasks accurately while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
