Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients according to recipes and menu specifications, including slicing, dicing, chopping, and portioning food items using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as cooking, assembling dishes, and portioning meals to ensure timely service
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including mixers, ovens, fryers, and other culinary tools
- Maintain cleanliness by adhering to food safety standards in food handling, sanitation procedures, and workspace organization
- Support menu planning efforts by preparing ingredients in advance and ensuring consistency across dishes
- Follow recipe adherence to ensure quality control and uniformity in meal presentation
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth kitchen operations
Experience
- Previous dietary department or dietary aide experience is highly desirable
- Proven food service or restaurant experience demonstrating knowledge of food preparation and safety standards
- Familiarity with food industry practices including catering, meal prep, and food safety management
- Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques for various ingredients
- Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of safety standards in production environments to prevent accidents and ensure compliance
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen team members
