Meridian Financial Services is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our Asheville office. This position supports our accounting and administrative functions by processing payments, maintaining records, and assisting with daily office operations.
We are looking for someone who is interested in a stable, long-term position and wants to become a dependable part of our team. This is not intended to be a temporary or short-term role. Previous accounting or payment processing experience is helpful but not required. We are willing to train the right person who demonstrates a strong work ethic, sound judgment, and a genuine interest in long-term employment.
Responsibilities
- Process and post payments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain payment records and supporting documentation.
- Perform data entry with a high level of accuracy.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to emails professionally.
- File, scan, and organize office records.
- Complete daily business-related errands.
- Provide administrative support to management and other departments.
- Communicate professionally with clients, consumers, vendors, and coworkers.
- Assist with additional office projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous accounting, bookkeeping, clerical, administrative, or payment processing experience is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Willingness to ask questions and seek clarification when needed.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Dependable with a strong record of attendance and punctuality.
- Interested in establishing long-term employment with the company.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required, as daily business-related errands outside the office are an essential function of this position.
- This is a fully in-person position. Remote or hybrid work is not available.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, printers, scanners, copiers, and telephones.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry office supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
