Yard Worker – Heavy Industrial Manufacturing--OUTDOORS
Location: Harrisburg, NC
Pay: $18.00–$20.00 per hour (Based on Experience & Shift)
Shifts Available: 2nd Shift & 3rd Shift

Our client, a leading steel manufacturing company in Harrisburg, NC, is hiring dependable, physically capable Yard Workers to join their team.
This is not a warehouse position. This is a physically demanding outdoor industrial job where you'll work around large steel products, heavy equipment, heat, dirt, dust, and changing weather conditions.
We're looking for candidates who are comfortable performing hard physical labor throughout their shift and who have experience in environments such as:
- Steel plants or galvanizing facilities
- Scrap yards or metal recycling
- Heavy manufacturing
- Foundries
- Lumber mills
- Concrete or asphalt plants
- Pipe yards
- Heavy construction
- Outdoor industrial production environments
Job Responsibilities
- Inspect chains, hooks, racks, and production fixtures for wear or damage; repair or remove defective equipment
- Hand-wire steel products to racks before processing
- Wrap chains, cables, and slings around steel bundles for lifting and transport
- Lift, hang, move, and remove steel materials throughout the production process
- Remove excess zinc, ash, and debris from galvanized steel products
- Operate hand and power tools to prepare and finish steel materials
- Perform general yard maintenance and material handling
- Follow all safety procedures while working around cranes, forklifts, and heavy industrial equipment
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe
Qualifications
- Previous experience in heavy industrial, steel, construction, or other physically demanding outdoor work preferred
- Able to perform strenuous physical work throughout a 10-12 hour shift
- Comfortable working outdoors year-round in heat, cold, rain, dust, and dirty conditions
- Able to safely lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds repeatedly
- Reliable attendance and dependable transportation
- Strong safety mindset and willingness to follow all procedures
- Forklift, overhead crane, rigging, or steel handling experience is a plus
Work Environment
This position involves working in a busy industrial yard where employees are regularly exposed to:
- Outdoor weather year-round
- Heat, humidity, and cold temperatures
- Dirt, dust, mud, grease, and grime
- Fumes and industrial chemicals
- Loud machinery and moving equipment
- Uneven walking surfaces
- Heavy steel materials
This is a hands-on position requiring continuous standing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting, and repetitive physical movement throughout the shift.
