SNSHN isn't your usual property management company.
We were started by entrepreneurs (with backgrounds in tech and healthcare) who became real estate investors, couldn't find a management company that met their standards, and built one ourselves. Flat fee. Zero hidden charges. We design our own workflows. We build our own software. Most of the industry runs on duct tape and habit, and we're rebuilding it from the inside out.
Now we need someone in the field — fixing, diagnosing, learning — who works the same way.
The Job Title Dilemma
We struggled to title this posting. "Maintenance Tech" pulls in people who've spent years in conventional shops. "Handyman" undersells the actual work. The honest version: we're looking for someone who can show up to a problem they've never seen before, watch a YouTube video, ask the right question, figure it out — and then come back and tell the rest of us how they did it, so the next person doesn't have to start from zero.
If that sounds like you, keep reading.
You Might Be Right For This If...
- You've been the person at your current job who fixes things nobody asked you to fix
- You can YouTube, ask questions, listen, and figure things out
- You enjoy turning "ick" into "ahhh" — and the more visible the difference, the better
- You're more excited by "we haven't figured that out yet" than by a 200-page manual
- You're allergic to "that's just how we do it"
- You're as comfortable on the phone with a tenant as you are under a sink
- You don't need much oversight to stay on task — and you'd rather not have it
What You'd Actually Be Doing
A small, tight-knit team managing a growing portfolio of residential properties in Milwaukee. On any given day:
- Diagnose and repair. Work orders ranging from doorknobs and light fixtures to floor drains, shower mixers, locks, paint, finish carpentry. New problems show up regularly. So does the satisfaction of solving them.
- Talk to tenants. By phone before you arrive, on-site once you're there. Every interaction is both a service moment and a data point for making the next one better.
- Run your own day. Show up to the Monday morning team sync, take what's yours, get to work. Track and submit your own hours. We trust adults to manage their own time.
- Build, don't just fix. When you find a smarter way to do something, we want to hear it. The people in the field have the best vantage point on what's broken — and you're expected to use that.
What We Don't Care About
- Whether you have property maintenance experience
- Whether you have a real estate license
- A degree of any kind
- Years spent in any particular field
We'd rather hire someone with zero industry experience and a fierce ability to learn than someone with a decade of doing it the broken way.
You might be running a kitchen right now. Working a manufacturing floor. In hospitality, retail, logistics, or somewhere else entirely — fixing things that nobody asked you to fix and quietly thinking there has to be a better way. That instinct is what we hire for.
What You Do Need
- A driver's license
- Your own vehicle (whatever gets you and your tools to the job)
- Your own basic tools
- A smartphone — it's how we dispatch jobs, track hours, and stay coordinated through the day
- Comfort in residential spaces (under sinks, in basements, on ladders, in tight crawlspaces)
- Willingness to travel within Milwaukee (~25%)
