Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers on over-the-road routes, ensuring timely delivery of freight across multiple states.
- Load, secure, and unload various cargo types including freight and flatbeds following proper manual handling procedures.
- Navigate using GPS systems to optimize routes while complying with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with safety regulations.
- Manage documentation accurately for deliveries, pickups, load manifests, and logs in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route status, delivery updates, or any issues encountered during transit.
- Maintain professionalism by adhering to all safety protocols related to truck loading/unloading and cargo handling.
- Maintain electronic logs (ELD).
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid CDL Class A license.
- Strong knowledge of over-the-road (OTR) driving routes and route planning using GPS navigation tools.
- Experience handling diverse freight including flatbeds.
- Skilled in truck loading/unloading procedures such as forklift operation or manual cargo handling when necessary.
- Familiarity with FMCSA regulations, DOT rules and safety standards for commercial trucking.
- Excellent driving record demonstrating safe driving habits in compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Capable of managing logistics cargo handling efficiently while maintaining high safety standards during load & unload processes.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer experience preferred
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record
- Current DOT Medical Card
- Ability to pass drug screening and background check
- Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
