This full-time 3rd Shift Supervisor plans and directs the activities of approximately 15 Union employees as part of a five day/three shift manufacturing operation of FPC and MPC specialties compounds. The supervisor is responsible for contributing to the achievement of department objectives in key areas of safety, quality, and productivity. This supervisor should possess outstanding leadership and communication skills and be able to motivate others. The supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient work environment, troubleshooting operational problems, and working efficiently with other departments to meet established metrics and promote an environment of continuous improvement.
Essential Functions:

Instills and fosters a commitment to site safety objectives.

Effectively manages daily production activities to achieve departmental objectives.

Directs the shift workflow and supervises shift employees in daily operational tasks.

Conducts daily touchpoints with shift employees, focusing on building strong working relationships and a positive culture.

Ensures compliance with department operating procedures.

Schedules shift assignments for succeeding shift.

Conducts activity observations and incident investigations in support of the overall safety culture.

Meets regularly with shift personnel to review safety and housekeeping performance and define areas for improvement.

Continuously evaluates current manufacturing practices for improvement.

Implements all departmental initiatives to provide efficient workflows.

Trains and coaches’ employees; maintain accurate shift training records.

Maintains daily shift production log and weekly production schedules.
-
Maintains daily job rotation schedule and assigns work in an equitable fashion.

Records employees hours worked in Time Clock software program.

Maintains/orders production supplies per purchasing program.

A typical workday consists of arriving 30 minutes prior to shift and working approximately 30 mins post shift.

Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:

Associate degree with coursework in management, or 3-5 years prior supervisory experience in manufacturing.

Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills are necessary.

Computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Availability to cover other shifts when needed or weekends as required.

Prefer 3-5 years’ experience in a union manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of manufacturing processes and trouble shooting ability helpful.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for 6-8 hours/day and perform in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to wear necessary PPE (safety glasses, respirator, lab coat, hearing protection, composite or steel toe footwear).
Be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, barcode scanner and computer/label printer.
