Job Title: Kennel Technician/ Veterinary Assistant (VA)
Reports to: Floor Supervisor, Lead Veterinary Technician, Hospital Administrator / Manager and Owner
Overall Responsibility: The VA will assist our veterinarians in providing care to animals. In addition, VAs support fellow team members from other departments to ensure smooth daily operation of the hospital by performing duties as directed by their supervisors. Due to the nature of the hospital, VAs may be asked to work any day of the week, month, or year.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Provide outstanding customer service
- Be on time and stay late when needed
- Look and act professional as a representative of CRAH
- Work without supervision
- Work as part of a team
- Work well under pressure such as medical emergencies.
- Always be willing to help other team member and other departments
- Correctly prepare instrument packs for sterilization.
- Observe the sterile field within surgery.
- Assist with the intubation of patients
- Correctly monitor anesthesia in patients and recovery.
- Restrain difficult patients effectively.
- Take care of all pets boarding at our facility.
- Clean kennels, yard and hospital.
- Walk , feed all pets and make sure they have proper bedding.
- Work directly with doctors and staff in patient care for our boarding pets.
- Clean up feces and urine after pets, keep them well maintained during their stay.
- In charge of all baths for the hospital.
- In charge of maintaining laundry and dishes.
- In charge of intaking boarders and discharging boarders.
- Train and mentor other staff members who have less qualifications / experience
- Able to lift pets up to 50lbs 10 times every day
- Able to bend, lift, kneel and for extended periods of time
- Work with fecal matter, urine, blood, and cleaning chemicals
- Use and help maintain hospital diagnostic equipment
- Takes pride in the cleanliness of the hospital
- Facilitate, encourage and support communication between staff and departments to ensure the smooth operation of the hospital
- Support / promote team goals
- Ensure shifts/staff covered when absences occur
- Complete medical record paperwork appropriately.
- Be able to communicate effectively with clients in person and over the telephone.
- Ensure the safety of clients, pets and their colleagues
- Obey and understand all clinic policies and procedures and understand responsibilities under OSHA and other regulatory agencies

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
