Full-Time Custodian - Second Shift
Job purpose
The Custodian performs cleaning, sanitizing and general maintenance for the HHBC facilities and ensures those facilities are maintained at a high standard of cleanliness and care.
Duties and responsibilities
· Clean assigned areas of the church facilities in preparation for daily use, mid-week activities and weekend services.
· Cleaning may include, but is not limited to vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, washing all touched surfaces, washing glass and windows, picking up and removing trash, replacing liners, cleaning all parts of bathrooms and floor care.
· Ensure that assigned areas are safe, neat and orderly.
· Stock custodial closets/storage areas with all necessary supplies.
· Inform Facilities Manager of quantity and necessity of supplies.
· Inform Facilities Manager of maintenance needs (i.e. burned out bulbs, plumbing issues, broken items, etc.)
· Reset rooms and spaces when needed after cleaning and care.
· Maintain clean and organized storage rooms, cleaning carts, supplies, etc. (place dirty rags in laundry room and replace with clean rags).
· Assist church personnel with set up and cleaning for events.
· Perform special projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Must be in agreement with the HHBC Constitution and By-Laws.
· Must demonstrate the Staff Values of HHBC.
· Must bear witness to a clear testimony of salvation and biblical baptism.
· Must have a valid driver’s license.
· Must be able to work efficiently and effectively without supervision and demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
· Must possess minimal computer skills.
· Must be able to adjust their schedule for special cleaning needs.
· Must have prior experience with floor maintenance or a willingness to learn.
Physical requirements
This physically demanding job requires mobility, flexibility, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying and other physical activity. Must be able to stand or be on their feet for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds without difficulty.

The Custodian must use discretion in all dealings with church staff, members and the community to maintain a positive image of Hyland Heights Baptist Church and to represent our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ well.
