Industrial Mechanical Fabricator
Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking an experienced and mechanically skilled Industrial Mechanical Fabricator to support the fabrication, assembly, installation, and modification of industrial/process equipment and systems. This position is ideal for a hands-on tradesperson who is comfortable working with stainless steel, PVC, mechanical components, piping systems, and process equipment.
The successful candidate will be able to work from drawings and instructions, build and modify equipment, perform stainless steel welding, fabricate PVC piping, drill and tap components, and troubleshoot mechanical issues in a shop or industrial environment.
Industrial Mechanical Fabricator Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble stainless steel frames, supports, brackets, platforms, and equipment components.
- Perform TIG and/or MIG welding on stainless steel to produce clean, structurally sound welds.
- Measure, lay out, cut, fit, tack, weld, and finish fabricated components.
- Perform PVC and plastic piping/plumbing fabrication, including cutting, fitting, gluing, and assembly.
- Perform hot gas welding of plastics/PVC when required.
- Read and interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, mechanical drawings, sketches, and fabrication plans.
- Assemble piping, valves, fittings, pumps, tanks, equipment, and other process components.
- Drill, tap, ream, grind, deburr, and modify metal and plastic components as required.
- Perform basic machining and fabrication operations using appropriate shop tools and equipment.
- Use hand tools, power tools, drills, grinders, saws, and other fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
- Take accurate measurements and maintain proper dimensions and tolerances during fabrication.
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems and identify practical solutions in the field or shop.
- Assist with equipment installation, modification, maintenance, and repair activities.
- Work independently when assigned a project while also functioning effectively as part of a fabrication or installation team.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow company safety procedures, fabrication standards, and project-specific requirements.
- Follow verbal and written instructions and complete assigned work accurately and efficiently.
- Perform other mechanical, fabrication, and assembly duties as assigned.
Industrial Mechanical Fabricator Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in industrial fabrication, mechanical assembly, pipefitting, process equipment, or related trades.
- Stainless steel TIG and/or MIG welding experience.
- Experience fabricating and assembling PVC or other plastic piping systems.
- Experience with plastic hot gas welding is highly preferred.
- Ability to read and understand P&IDs and process flow diagrams.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand how equipment and mechanical systems operate.
- Experience with drilling, tapping, grinding, cutting, fitting, and general metal fabrication.
- Basic machining experience is a plus.
- Electrical knowledge or industrial electrical experience is a plus.
- Experience with pumps, valves, piping systems, tanks, process equipment, or industrial machinery is a plus.
- Ability to accurately measure, lay out, and fabricate components.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and work through mechanical issues without constant supervision.
- Ability to use common hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Candidates with a broader combination of welding, mechanical fabrication, piping, plastics, machining, electrical, and process equipment experience will qualify for the higher rates.
Work Environment
This is a hands-on industrial fabrication position requiring regular use of tools and equipment and the ability to work with metal, plastic, piping, and mechanical components. Candidates should be comfortable working in a shop and/or industrial environment and performing physically demanding fabrication and assembly tasks as required.
Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
