Position: Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager (APM)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Position Overview
This role is an Project Manager, also open to a Assistant Project Manager (APM). The APM is responsible for managing awarded construction projects from contract award through closeout, coordinating the ordering, tracking, and delivery of commercial doors, frames, and hardware.
The APM focuses primarily on project execution, while Project Managers (PMs) handle sales, bidding, and contract work. This position is a critical support role that allows senior PMs to focus on business development while ensuring projects are delivered accurately, on time, and within scope.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of coordination between sales, estimating, detailing, customers, and vendors after a project is awarded
- Manage the ordering, tracking, and scheduling of doors, frames, and hardware per contract and project schedules
- Assist PMs with awarded projects and gradually assume responsibility for managing projects independently
- Communicate regularly with customers via phone and email; occasional face-to-face meetings may be required
- Proactively identify and resolve project issues (including handling difficult conversations when problems arise)
- Maintain accurate documentation and project records using Microsoft Office tools
Training & Career Progression
Extensive, ongoing on-the-job training is provided. This role is designed with a clear growth path:
- Day 1–90: Partner with an experienced PM; learn systems, processes, and workflows
- 90 Days: Begin assisting in running smaller projects
- 6 Months: Run small projects with oversight from Rex or a Senior PM
- 1 Year: Independently manage projects from start to finish
- Long-Term: Increased responsibility, higher-value projects, and expanded earning potential
Sales Component (Technical Sales)
This is not cold-call sales.
- We receive bid opportunities and assign them to the team every Friday
- PMs and APMs work “cradle-to-grave” on assigned projects (bid → award → execution → closeout)
- The more projects you sell and manage successfully, the higher your compensation potential
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (construction management, business, engineering, or similar)
- Technical aptitude and willingness to learn construction products
- Construction field familiarity preferred
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Highly detail-oriented
- Personable, outgoing, and comfortable communicating with customers
- Strong problem-solving skills; able to remain professional under pressure
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)

- Entry-level base salary: $50,000 (starting at)
