We are seeking an experienced Hospice Medical Director to guide our clinical program through the CMS survey process and become a key member of our leadership team.
Position Summary
This is an excellent opportunity for a physician with prior hospice leadership experience who understands Medicare Conditions of Participation and the CMS certification process.
Initially, the Medical Director will provide clinical oversight and assist the agency in preparing for and successfully completing the CMS survey. Following successful Medicare enrollment and the start of patient admissions, the position is expected to transition into a long-term role with the opportunity for full-time employment.
Responsibilities
- Provide medical oversight for the hospice program.
- Assist leadership in preparing for the CMS certification survey.
- Ensure compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation and hospice regulations.
- Review and approve hospice policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings.
- Provide physician guidance on hospice eligibility and plan of care.
- Support quality improvement and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Administrator and Director of Nursing to establish a successful hospice program.
Qualifications
- MD or DO with an active Arizona medical license.
- Previous experience serving as a Hospice Medical Director or Hospice Physician.
- Thorough knowledge of Medicare hospice regulations and CMS survey requirements.
- DEA registration preferred.
- Board Certification in Hospice & Palliative Medicine is preferred but not required.
- Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills.
