About the Role
Hubbert Homes is a nonprofit providing transitional and post-hospitalization housing to adults returning from incarceration, hospitalization, or homelessness. We are hiring a House Manager to oversee daily operations of our residences in Oakland / Alameda County.
This is a part-time, in-person position averaging 10–20 hours per week. You must also be available on-call for urgent situations outside scheduled hours. Most of your time will be spent at the property—checking in on residents, handling move-ins, conducting drug screens, and keeping things running smoothly.
What You’ll Do
Move-Ins & Resident Orientation
- Prepare bedrooms before move-in: clean linens, cleared drawers, inspected room
- Walk new residents through house rules, safety procedures, and program expectations
- Administer and document move-in drug and alcohol test
- Complete intake paperwork in designated systems
House Operations & Safety
- Keep inventory of household supplies (cleaning products, kitchen items, keys, linens)
- Conduct routine room inspections; log findings on the habitability record
- Monitor property for damage or safety concerns; report issues to operator promptly
- Enforce curfew, quiet hours, and house rules; document violations per write-up policy
- Complete required daily and shift documentation
- Review cmaeras for rule violations
Drug & Alcohol Testing
- Conduct urine drug screens at move-in, weekly house meetings, post-pass returns, random checks, and when there is suspicion of use
- Verify sample temperature, document results, and follow protocol for positive or invalid samples
- Present residents with their options following a confirmed positive result
House Meetings & Programming
- Facilitate weekly house meetings when the house lead is unavailable
- Take attendance, document testing, and keep meeting notes
- Support occasional community events or outings
- Complete required ongoing training (health, safety, housing management)
Communication & Coordination
- Be the main point of contact for residents day-to-day; respond to on-call needs promptly
- Coordinate with the Lead Care Manager on resident status, flagged concerns, and discharges
- Prepare housing verification letters and other documentation as needed (HIPAA-compliant)
- Check in with the operator weekly on operations, supply needs, and resident issues
Administrative & Financial
- Collect resident program fees on schedule; follow money-handling procedures
- Maintain records in Google Sheets; submit weekly coordinator reports
- Log and submit hours using Clockify
Management
- Delegate tasks to in house lead residents
- Manage the performance of lead residents
Requirements
- Reliable smartphone — must be reachable by call, text, and email during scheduled and on-call hours
- Basic computer skills: email, Google Docs, Google Sheets, web-based forms
- Ability to write clearly and maintain accurate records
- Strong organizational skills; comfortable managing several things at once
- Professional communication with residents, staff, and outside partners
- Comfortable enforcing rules consistently and documenting incidents
- Reliable transportation (personal vehicle strongly preferred — property is in Alameda County)
- Must pass a background check (prior convictions reviewed case-by-case; do not automatically disqualify)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in sober living, transitional housing, reentry services, or social services
- Personal or professional experience with recovery
- Familiarity with CalAIM, Medi-Cal managed care, or community health programs
- Experience with Clockify, Pear Suite, or similar case management / time-tracking tools
- Bilingual English / Spanish
Compensation & Schedule
This is a part-time, hourly position. Hours vary week to week (10–20 hours) based on resident activity and operational needs. On-call availability is required — most on-call situations are brief check-ins or phone guidance. Compensation is competitive with similar roles in the Bay Area nonprofit housing sector; rate discussed during interview.

We serve adults who are stabilizing after a health crisis or reentry and need structured, supportive housing to get back on their feet. Our team is small, hands-on, and focused on getting results for the people we serve.
