Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Special Education Paraprofessional. This full-time position is located at our Testing Location for Hiring and is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will work closely with special education teachers and other staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, assisting students in reaching their academic and personal goals.
Responsibilities
- Assist special education teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Support students in academic tasks, including reading, writing, and math, ensuring they understand and engage with the curriculum.
- Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to enhance learning and promote skill development.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
- Help create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and fosters social skills.
- Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, as required by the needs of the students.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to develop and implement effective strategies for student success.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to school policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
- Experience working with children, preferably in a special education setting.
- Understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support students with diverse learning needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from teachers and administrators.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Certification or training in CPR and First Aid is a plus.
- Must pass background checks and meet any other hiring requirements as mandated by the school district.
