Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Coder and Biller to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Review and interpret medical records, including clinical documentation, to assign appropriate ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes in accordance with medical coding guidelines.
- Ensure accurate coding for inpatient and outpatient services, including complex procedures and diagnoses, adhering to industry standards.
- Prepare and submit insurance claims using billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring timely processing of health insurance claims.
- Verify patient insurance coverage, process third-party billing, and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to maximize reimbursement.
- Maintain comprehensive medical records and documentation for audit readiness while ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies or incomplete records for accurate coding.
- Stay current with updates in medical coding guidelines, including ICD-10/ICD-9 updates, CPT changes, and DRG classifications to ensure ongoing compliance.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical coding and billing within a healthcare setting, preferably with exposure to hospital or clinic environments.
- Strong knowledge of ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, DRG classification, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for electronic health record management related to billing and coding processes.
- Experience with medical collection processes and health insurance claim processing is highly desirable.
- Understanding of revenue cycle management principles and third-party insurance billing procedures.
- Ability to interpret medical records accurately while adhering to coding guidelines for inpatient services.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
