Duties
- Lead the BBQ station by preparing and cooking smoked meats, grilled items, and side dishes with precision and flair
- Oversee food handling procedures to ensure safety, quality, and freshness at all times
- Manage the flow of food preparation, coordinating with kitchen staff to meet service timelines
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pit area and kitchen workspace in compliance with health regulations
- Assist in menu planning by suggesting new recipes or techniques to enhance our barbecue offerings
- Monitor inventory levels of meats, spices, and supplies; place orders as needed to keep the station stocked
- Train and mentor junior team members on proper cooking techniques, food safety standards, and customer service expectations
Skills
- Extensive experience in food preparation, cooking, and food handling within a restaurant or food industry setting
- Strong knowledge of barbecue techniques, smoking processes, and grill management
- Proven leadership skills with experience in kitchen supervision or as a pit boss
- Excellent knife skills for meat trimming and prep work
- Familiarity with menu planning, meal preparation, and catering operations
- Commitment to food safety standards and proper sanitation practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a lively dining environment while maintaining attention to detail
