Civil Project Engineer – Transportation & Rail
Job Type: Full-time - 40 hours per week with paid overtime.
Location: Northern California Region – Remote Hybrid. CA Residency Required
Salary: $100,000 – $120,000 DOE + Bonuses

JMA is seeking an EIT-certified Civil Project Engineer to join its growing transportation team. This role offers the opportunity to work on rail, transit, and public infrastructure projects throughout California while gaining technical mentorship, increasing project responsibility, and a clear path toward PE licensure and long-term career growth.
Role Overview:
- Prepare civil engineering designs using Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads
- Develop roadway, grading, drainage, utility, and site design plans
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses
- Prepare construction plans, specifications, and technical reports
- Coordinate with utilities, public agencies, and multidisciplinary teams
- Support PA&ED and PS&E project delivery from planning through construction
Qualifications:
- EIT certification with progress toward PE licensure
- 2+ years of civil engineering design experience
- Experience with Bentley OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment
- Transportation, public works, site development, or utility design experience preferred
