JOB TITLE: BUS COORDINATOR FOR THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under general supervision, provides school bus coordination for the Transportation Department. Must have and maintain a CDL with Passenger and Student endorsements. Reports to the Transportation Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Manage CDL Drivers for Catawba County Schools, Newton-Conover City Schools, and Hickory City Schools

Schedule DOT physicals, both initial and on-site renewals
-
Schedule Bus License Renewals
-
Collaborate with Human Resources to order DOT drug testing
-
Enroll new Employees in Bus Class and schedule behind-the-wheel training
-
Check Driving records and eligibility
-
Ensure drivers are in compliance with the NCDOT regarding physicals and training.

Cancel CDLs for drivers who have left the three districts
-
Add new Drivers to all 3 districts as they come in
-
Manage the insurance list for Catawba County Schools and Newton-Conover City Schools
-
Reimburse for CDL Permits and Licenses
-
Reimburse Boot and Tool Allowance for all Mechanics
-
Complete the purchasing process for all Cintas uniforms
-
Complete the paperwork and purchasing of all new bus tags
-
Organize and implement Love the Bus Week for the district
-
Over NCPTA dues and conference dues
-
Complete reports for NCDPI and the state inspector
-
Manage the Mechanics List, adding/subtracting buses and inspection dates (when needed)

Assist with Travel Tracker management

Assist with opening bus meetings for all three Catawba County Public School districts
-
Attend Career Fairs (as needed)

Organize and implement Buster the Bus Training
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTION

Assists in a variety of department operations; performs special projects and assignments as requested; and prepares reports.

Gathers, assembles, and summarizes data and information.

Participates in duties related to the administration of an office.

Responds to requests for information.

Maintains files of correspondence and other records.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school with related coursework at the community college level or two years of experience in the transportation field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job functions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Physical Requirements: Requires light physical work. Must be able to lift boxes up to ten pounds. Must be able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions, assignments or directions.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to read simple forms. Requires the ability to prepare time sheets and supply requisitions using prescribed format.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in standard English.
Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas, to add, subtract, divide, and multiply.
Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using a keyboard.
Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under average levels of stress.
Physical Communications: Requires the ability to talk and hear.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Skills of keyboarding with accuracy at the speed necessary for the position.
