Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Programmer to join our growing, dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, editing, and optimizing CNC programs to fabricate parts according to specifications. Your expertise in CNC programming, CAD/CAM software, and precision machining will drive the production of high-quality components. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative manufacturing processes, improve efficiency through lean manufacturing principles, and ensure the highest standards of quality and accuracy in all machined parts. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Duties
- Develop and modify CNC programs for CNC Lathes, Milling, and INDEX multi-spindle machines to meet engineering specifications and production schedules
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and blueprints, ensuring precise understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) requirements
- Program Mill or Lathe by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches, proving part programs
- Set-up CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, ACME Gridley, or INDEX multi-spindle machines by installing and adjusting 3 and 4 jaw chucks, tool attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops and stock pushers, indicating vices.
- Monitor the machining process to ensure it maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, & cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements, detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes: adjusting controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
- Load raw materials into the machine by lifting stock into position
- Request needed tooling and fixtures from purchasing department
- Conduct troubleshooting on CNC equipment including electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes when necessary
- Ensure all machined parts meet strict quality standards through inspection with precision measuring instruments and adherence to schematics and schematics-based specifications
- Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs
Qualifications
- Proven experience programming CNC lathes, Milling & multi-spindle machines in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages, CAD/CAM software, and experience with CAM programming tools
- Familiarity with GD&T principles, blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and geometric measurement techniques
- Mechanical knowledge of tooling setups, machining operations, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and precision measurement instruments including bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
- Ability to read schematics and electrical diagrams; understanding of mechanical drawings is essential
- Excellent math skills with a focus on geometry calculations relevant to machining tolerances and tool paths
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes and enhance productivity
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot CNC issues efficiently while maintaining safety standards
Join our team if you’re passionate about precision manufacturing! We value innovation, dedication, and continuous improvement. This role offers a chance to work in a fast-paced environment where your skills will directly impact our success.
