The United Indians of All Tribes Foundation (UIATF) is a non-profit organization working to provide vital social, cultural, and educational services to Seattle’s American Indian/Alaska Native community as well as all communities in need.
The Native Veterans Program at UIATF is looking for someone who is passionate about connecting Native veterans in our community to services, resources, and benefits that they have earned through their service. We are looking to fill a temporary position to offer critical case management services for our clients. This position is a significant part of our pilot research program aimed at aligning service systems to improve holistic health outcomes for Native veterans around the Puget Sound.
Responsibilities, Activities, and Expectations:
- Provide case management for Native veteran clients, track client outcomes, and follow up with clients to achieve identified case goals. Maintain confidential electronic files, including service plan and outcome documentation, using agency-provided equipment and systems.
- Outreach with Native veterans to help them navigate VA claims, health care or benefits processes
- Advocate on behalf of clients and provide warm referrals to service partner organizations to meet client needs
- Refer veterans seeking Indigenous medicine support to Sweat Lodge, talking circles and other Indigenous healing practices
Qualifications:
- Experience working with AI/AN, Indigenous, and/or Native American communities or tribes. (Tribal enrollment not required)
- Knowledge of, and experience working with, diverse Native veteran populations, such as those who identify as female, Two-Spirit, and/or LGBTQ+, as well as those with experience of MST, PSTD, homelessness, suicidal ideation, and/or substance use.
- Experience working with military veterans and/or lived experience as a veteran of the U.S. Military
- Experience with case management, client tracking, and/or social work
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalency
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Ability to coordinate and multitask
- Team oriented and a passion for helping others
- Technological proficiency using a computer, cell phone, and Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
Desired:
- Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in social or human services field
- Personal experience navigating through VA healthcare, disability claims, and/or benefits
- Hold a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and auto insurance
- Ability to travel and drive to meet program participants, especially around Western Washington
- 3 years' experience working in Human or Social Services, Public Health, or Social Work
- Experience with collecting, analyzing, and handling confidential data
Pay: $35.70 per hour
