Duties
- Safely operate dump trucks, including manual transmission models, to transport construction debris, materials, or waste to designated locations.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using roll-off trucks or other specialized equipment, ensuring secure and balanced loads.
- Follow established routes for delivery and pick-up, maintaining punctuality and optimizing travel time.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections on trucks to check for mechanical issues, fluid levels, brakes, lights, and safety equipment.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, routes taken, loads delivered, and any incidents or delays encountered.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and site personnel to coordinate deliveries, pickups, and route adjustments as needed.
- Assist with forklift operations or other equipment when necessary for loading or unloading freight.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating dump trucks or similar heavy-duty vehicles such as tractor-trailers or flatbed trucks.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for dump trucks and tanker operations.
- Skilled in manual transmission driving with a strong understanding of truck controls and safety procedures.
- Experience with refrigerated trailers or specialized freight handling is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of load securing techniques to ensure safe transportation of freight.
- Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.
