USAM DC is seeking an experienced Field Superintendent – Architectural Millwork to lead on-site installation for custom commercial projects.
This is a hands-on, field-first role responsible for coordinating millwork installation, verifying site conditions, managing crews and materials, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, on spec, and in line with AWI quality standards.
This position is ideal for someone with strong commercial construction or millwork installation experience who thrives in fast-paced jobsite environments and takes ownership of field execution from pre-install through final walkthrough.
What You’ll Do:
- Coordinate and oversee daily millwork installation activities on active jobsites
- Read and interpret architectural drawings and millwork shop drawings
- Verify field conditions, dimensions, and layouts using laser measuring tools and standard equipment
- Supervise installation crews and subcontractors to ensure quality and productivity
- Manage material deliveries, staging, and on-site logistics
- Inspect materials for damage, completeness, and compliance with specifications
- Communicate with project managers, general contractors, and field teams to keep projects on track
- Identify and resolve jobsite issues proactively to avoid delays
- Lead site meetings and provide progress updates, including photo documentation
- Support punch list completion, final walkthroughs, and warranty/callback work
- Travel locally to multiple jobsites as needed
- Other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
- 10+ years of experience in commercial construction, millwork installation, or field supervision
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings
- Experience with field verification, layout, and precise measurements
- Familiarity with AWI standards and high-end finish expectations
- Proficiency with field technology (tablets, digital plans, MS Office)
- Experience using laser measuring tools (e.g., Leica Disto or similar) preferred
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate across teams
- Ability to work in active construction environments and lift up to 50 lbs
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Willingness to travel between jobsites (local + occasional overnight)
