Job Title: Experienced Carpenter (Full-time)
Company Overview: CAIRN Building and Renovation is a well-established, locally-owned construction business in southern Maine. At Cairn, every project is unique, challenging, and interesting. We provide custom, "best practice" based new construction and renovation services with expertise with the highest quality materials and utilizing the most current best practices and including projects at historic properties to high-performance, energy-efficient homes, including PassiveHaus certification. We are a friendly and upbeat team looking for an experienced carpenter to join the crew.
Position Description: The experienced carpenter will work on a diverse and challenging set of custom residential renovations and new construction projects. This position will work collaboratively with a small team at each site. A successful candidate will enjoy working outdoors and be motivated, responsible, friendly, having a thirst for learning and skilled in carpentry.
Responsibilities:
- Safely and effectively utilize hand tools
- Perform diverse, custom carpentry tasks from frame to finish
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite
- Work outdoors for extended periods of time
- Interact respectfully with crew members and clients
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies
- Communicate regularly with CAIRN owners, and complete all required written documentation
- Travel to and from job sites
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Skilled in both framing and finishes
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction or carpentry
- US work authorization
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable mode of transportation
- Ability to use power and hand tools
- Responsible and hard-working
- Strong attention to detail
- Commitment to safety and quality
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 90 lbs
- Ability to climb ladders
Preferred:
- High School Diploma, GED, or HISET preferred
- Desire to advance within the company
- Additional experience in carpentry
Schedule:
- 40 hrs/week
- Mon-Fri
- Day shift
- No nights or weekends
- Overtime eligible
Location: Cape Elizabeth to Harpswell, and inland to North Yarmouth/Pownal. We consider the crews commute seriously when looking at potential jobs and work to keep it as short as possible for everyone.
Pay: $30-$40/hr. Pay is based on experience and quality of work. Opportunity for pay raises.
