Overview
The new UofL Health – Brown Cancer Center‘s regional cancer center and Center for Rural Cancer Education and Research at South Hospital will increase access to comprehensive cancer care in South, Central and Western Kentucky.
The 26,440-square-foot, two-story facility will deliver innovative care in a compassionate, supportive environment with the goal of improving outcomes for cancer patients in the region. It will also serve as a hub for education and outreach across the state.
Key features of the new facility include:
- 16 Private Dual-Purpose Infusion and Exam Rooms: These rooms offer a comfortable, private space for treatment and consultation, ensuring patients feel at ease throughout their care journey.
- Patient Resource Center: This is a dedicated area to support patients and their families with various services, including:
- Wig dressing room
- Art therapy
- Dietitian office
- Massage therapy
- Financial counseling
- Psychotherapy
- On-Site Lab: This lab is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools to support accurate and timely testing for cancer patients.
- Research Lab and Clinical Trials: Space is dedicated to specimen processing and data collection to support translational cancer research and clinical trials, ensuring patients have access to the latest treatment options and scientific advancements.
- 10 Private Research Offices: These offices provide a collaborative space for researchers and medical professionals to work on innovative cancer therapies.
- Video Conferencing Spaces: These spaces enable communication between providers and researchers in different locations for additional educational, training and outreach efforts.
- Flex Meeting Room: This is an adaptable space for hosting support groups, events and community oncologists.
- Oncology Pharmacy: This is a state-of-the-art pharmacy focusing solely on oncology infusions, such as chemotherapies and immunotherapies.
- Patient Lounge: This is a comfortable area for patients and their families to relax between appointments and treatments.
- Kentucky Cancer Program (KCP) Office: This new KCP location will function as a centralized hub for serving South, Central and Western Kentucky.
We are seeking a highly skilled RN Nurse Manager for our Oncology Infusion unit at the Brown Cancer Center - South Hospital. This leadership role involves overseeing daily nursing operations within the infusion center, ensuring exceptional patient care, compliance with healthcare regulations, and fostering a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise in oncology infusion and strong managerial skills to guide and support nursing staff during the 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. shift.
Duties
- Lead and coordinate nursing activities within the Oncology Infusion unit, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards.
- Supervise nursing staff, providing mentorship, performance evaluations, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Oversee patient assessment processes, including vital signs, medical documentation, and physiologic evaluations related to oncology treatments.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, state healthcare laws, and accreditation standards like NCQA.
- Manage staffing schedules to optimize patient care delivery while maintaining budgetary efficiency.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, pharmacists, and support staff to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans.
- Maintain accurate medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner; ensure documentation meets regulatory standards.
- Facilitate staff training on IV infusion techniques, catheter care, sterile procedures, medication administration including injection protocols, and emergency response procedures such as airway management.
Skills
- Strong background in oncology nursing with expertise in infusion therapy, IV insertion/venipuncture, catheterization, and sterile technique.
- Proven leadership in nurse management within acute care settings such as hospital medicine or critical care units; supervisory experience required.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance and long-term care regulations pertinent to oncology patients.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams and patients; managerial communication skills essential for team supervision and conflict resolution.
Education:
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing (required)
- Masters of Science Nursing Specialty or Nursing Administration. Other Master’s degrees, such as business or healthcare administration will be considered (preferred)
Experience:
- For External candidates: At least five (5) years of experience in an acute care setting, preferably an academic medical center (required)
- Prior management experience
Licensure:
- Active Kentucky Registered Nurse License or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky (required)
Certification:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider
- Professional certification in either a leadership or clinical specialty area (required)
- If certification not present upon hire, it is to be obtained within three (3) years of hire date (required)

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
