Job Description:
A Diesel Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on a variety of heavy machinery used in construction and other industrial sectors. The role requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and engine components. Heavy Equipment Mechanics ensure equipment is running efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repairs:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections.
- Repair and replace faulty components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical wiring.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Perform repairs on-site or in a workshop environment.
- Record maintenance and repair activities, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Install new parts and accessories to improve machinery performance.
- At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience working with heavy machinery.
Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Certification in heavy equipment maintenance (e.g., ASE or equivalent) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy tools and equipment (up to 75 lbs).
- Stamina to work in challenging environments, including extreme weather conditions.
- Comfort working in tight spaces or at heights when repairing large equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Work may take place on job sites, in outdoor environments, or in a workshop.
- Hours may vary, or overtime work may be required, depending on the urgency of repairs.
