Job Summary:
Provide leadership and direction for the La Conner Library Foundation through overall planning, development, and execution of fundraising and community engagement according to the Foundation’s mission.
Supervision:
This position reports to the Library Director and works with the Foundation Board of Directors. The position directs the work of volunteers as required in carrying out the fundraising activities of the Foundation.
Duties:
Include but are not limited to the following.
· Develop and implement fundraising and community engagement events, and initiatives to support the Foundation’s goals in support of the Library.
· Work closely with the Library Director to establish the annual contribution to the Library’s general operating budget, any additional program or building specific funding needs, fundraising methods, and community engagement plans.
· Work closely with the Foundation Board President on board communications, meeting agendas, funding goals, marketing, and community engagement plans.
· Develop the fiscal year Foundation budget with the Foundation Board Treasurer.
· Report monthly at Foundation and Library Board meeting
· Build, cultivate, and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including donors, board members, volunteers, and community organizations.
· Ensure donors are kept informed about Foundation goals and updates on specific events or activities.
· Maintain and develop Foundation website, social media, e-newsletter, and direct mail content.
· Lead and coordinate all fundraising event logistics, details, communications, and data.
· Increase the Foundation’s funding sources, including applying for grants and developing a legacy giving program.
· Recommend policies and establish procedures for the Foundation in compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and nonprofit best practice.
· Maintain information systems to track and communicate with donors.
Desired Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, marketing, communications, or other related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Minimum 5 years of fundraising experience
· Strong public speaking skills
· Experience developing and managing strategies/goals, programs, and budgets
· Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
· Grant writing experience
· Experience with legacy planning is a plus
