About the Role
As House Staff, you’ll serve as front-line support for adults experiencing homelessness. You’ll work with individuals facing a wide spectrum of struggles, including AODA concerns (alcohol and other drug abuse), mental health challenges, and physical or mental disabilities. You won’t just be “on duty” — you’ll be part of a caring, professional team helping people rebuild their lives.
Job Responsibilities
- You’ll be doing meaningful, people-centered work, including:
- Helping individuals seeking shelter by assisting them through the intake process
- Ensuring facility security and safety for residents, staff, and guests
- Overseeing and assisting in cleaning and upkeep of the facility
- Answering questions and helping residents with problem-solving
- Assisting community members who arrive with donations
- Answering phones and directing calls as needed
- Interacting, communicating, and collaborating with others
- Bringing a genuine desire to help others every shift
This is hands-on experience that directly translates to many professional fields — perfect if you’re building a future in helping professions.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED required
- General knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel preferred
- No prior experience necessary – all training is provided on-site
- A positive attitude, reliability, and a heart for helping people are a must
