JOB Responsible for the supervision of personnel assigned to fleet and quartermaster functions; directs the acquisition, maintenance, and assignment of the department's vehicle fleet and specialized equipment; and oversees the procurement, issuance, inventory control, and disposition of police equipment and uniforms. Ensure both programs operate in compliance with City policies, Departmental standards, and applicable regulations. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

DUTIES

Oversee the acquisition, issuance, and reclamation of police equipment and uniforms, including but not limited to body armor, duty belts, badges, handcuffs, chemical spray, flashlights, and uniform items; ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in departmental software.

Administer inventory control processes to ensure equipment and uniforms are properly ordered, received, stored, secured, and issued; conduct or supervise inventory audits in accordance with departmental policy.

Monitor the quartermaster budget and annual operating expenses; forecast uniform and equipment replacement needs; review expenditures against available budget and established contract limits throughout the fiscal year.

Research and evaluate new equipment and uniform options; prepare and submit improvement proposals that maintain or enhance operational effectiveness and fiscal responsibility.

Coordinate with vendors regarding equipment and uniform procurement; oversee minor equipment repairs or returns to manufacturers; review all repaired items prior to reissuance and notify leadership of any items not meeting serviceability standards.

Ensure proper disposal of unserviceable equipment and uniforms in accordance with City and departmental policies.

Adhere to State and City of Denton purchasing policies and any applicable mandated requirements.

Administer the department’s vehicle and specialized equipment acquisition and replacement program; collaborate with Fleet Services annually to assess replacement needs, analyze fleet status, and prioritize acquisitions based on operational requirements and available funding.

Oversee the assignment and distribution of vehicles to personnel in accordance with direction from Police Executive Staff; maintains current records of all vehicle assignments and take-home authorizations.

Supervise the monitoring of preventive maintenance schedules, state inspections, and vehicle registrations; ensure timely scheduling of PM services and coordinates officer notifications.

Administer the vehicle inspection program; ensures compliance with daily officer inspections and monthly supervisor inspections; reviews reported defects and coordinates corrective action with Fleet Services.

Oversee the Automated Fleet Key Inventory Control System (Keyper); ensures accurate user profiles and access configurations; trains personnel on system use and generates activity reports.

Coordinate with city departments and outside vendors for the installation, removal, and recertification of specialized equipment (MDCs, radios, emergency lighting); manage logistics for large-scale equipment transitions.

Oversee the administration of the Axon Fleet in-car video recording system; provides guidance and support to personnel and coordinates with technical staff for repairs.

Administers the department's NTTA toll tag and car wash speed pass accounts; ensures accurate records of all active tags/passes and oversees periodic account reconciliation.

Prepare, maintain, and submit forms, reports, inventory records, and other required documentation; maintain accurate records for audit and compliance purposes.

Present department uniform and equipment improvement recommendations to Executive Staff.
SUPERVISORY/BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES

Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff; recommend assignment/assignment change, retention, discipline, and dismissal.

Develop, manage, and monitor budget; maintain accurate budget reporting; ensure that operations are cost-effective, and funds are managed wisely.
