City Representative (Bilingual – Spanish/English)

Mil Mujeres Legal Services is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting survivors of violent crimes, particularly gender-based violence, within low-income Latino communities. Through high-quality immigration legal services, community education, and advocacy, we empower individuals to achieve safety, stability, and justice.
Position Overview
Mil Mujeres Legal Services is seeking a dedicated and community-focused City Representative to join our team in the Chicago area. This position is funded through a special grant and is expected to run from July 24, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
This is an initial 12-month grant-funded position. Continuation beyond the initial term may be possible if grant funding is renewed or additional funding becomes available.
The City Representative plays a vital role in community outreach, client intake, office administration, and grant implementation activities while helping connect survivors of violence with critical legal services and community resources.
Key ResponsibilitiesGrant Program Support
- Assist with grant implementation and execution.
- Monitor program goals and outcomes to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
- Develop outreach and engagement strategies to support grant objectives.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records for grant compliance.
- Assist with preparing narrative reports and supporting materials for timely grant reporting.
Community Outreach & Education
- Coordinate and deliver bilingual "Know Your Rights" presentations in collaboration with community partners.
- Build and maintain relationships with local agencies, consulates, schools, faith-based organizations, and community groups.
- Represent Mil Mujeres at community events, resource fairs, and outreach activities.
- Conduct surveys, screenings, and intake sessions in community and consular settings.
Client Intake & Support
- Conduct intake interviews in both Spanish and English.
- Assist prospective clients with understanding available services.
- Schedule appointments and maintain client records.
- Provide compassionate and professional support to clients throughout the intake process.
Administrative & Office Support
- Perform general office duties, including filing, scanning, copying, data entry, and document preparation.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls and emails.
- Maintain organized client and administrative files.
- Support day-to-day office operations as needed.
Mail & Information Management
- Receive, process, and distribute physical and electronic correspondence.
- Ensure timely communication between departments and team members.
- Maintain accurate records and information flow within the office.
Client Communication & Case Coordination
- Communicate professionally with clients, attorneys, advocates, and community partners.
- Respond to client inquiries and requests in a timely and respectful manner.
- Support legal staff with case-related administrative tasks.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
Preferred
- Associate degree in Business Administration, Office Administration, Social Services, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
Required
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an administrative, clerical, customer service, community outreach, or client-facing role.
Skills & Competencies
- Fluency in both Spanish and English (written and verbal) is required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Adaptable, resourceful, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets) and Microsoft Office.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, community-focused environment.
Compensation & BenefitsSalary
- $38,850 annually
- Equivalent to $18,68 per hour based on a 40-hour workweek.
