About the Company
Shamah Properties, a well-established multifamily real estate investment firm seeks a hands-on Controller to oversee investor financial reporting, accounting and all financial operations.
Position Overview
The Controller will oversee the company's accounting, reporting, and financial management functions. This role requires the ability to manage multiple entities' books and records, to be highly organized with the ability to handle financial projects as well as manage the reporting and accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial calendar.
- Review & proof journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations as well as financial statements/variance reports and performance reports.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and portfolio liquidity.
Accounting Operations
- Supervise all A/P, A/R, and financial calendar activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate posting of all financial transactions.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Develop annual budgets with property and operations teams.
- Monitor variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Support leadership with reforecasting and financial modeling.
Compliance & Audit
- Serve as the point of contact for external auditors and CPA firms.
- Coordinate lender reporting and loan covenant compliance.
- Maintain internal controls, policies, and GAAP compliance.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Oversee accounting systems.
- Streamline workflows and improve data accuracy.
- Implement best practices for efficiency and reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5-7 years of accounting experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a Controller role.
- Proven experience managing and developing an accounting/reporting team.
- Demonstrated project management skills, with experience leading financial or process-improvement projects (e.g., systems implementations, workflow redesigns).
- Real estate or property accounting experience required, including multi-entity accounting.
- Experience with property management accounting systems (e.g., Yardi) preferred.
- Deep understanding of GAAP, budgeting, and cash management.
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to meet strict deadlines.
Pay: $115,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
