Job Summary: Operates in the areas of Solid Waste Collection, Landfill, and/or Material Recovery Facility (MRF). Please note: this positing is for Solid Waste Collections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Solid Waste Operator II:
- Operates equipment within the Collections, MRF, Co-Compost Facility, and/or Landfill departments to include, but not limited to roll off truck, garbage collections truck, motor grader, scraper, landfill compactor, bulldozer, baler, semi-truck tractor and walking floor trailer, yard waste grinder, automated collection truck.
- When working in operations requiring grading and excavation, shall be capable of constructing to final grade.
- Must perform duties to standard operations and safety defined by each appropriate equipment manufacturer and industry standards; reads and interprets appropriate instruction and/or construction plans.
- Performs basic maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Snow removal/sanding operations.
Qualifications:
Solid Waste Operator II: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years related experience and/or training. A combination of education and experience deemed appropriate to fulfill the role and responsibilities of this position will be considered. Must possess a valid South Dakota Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- * Solid Waste Operator II Assigned to Landfill or Collections: Must possess a valid Driver’s License upon hire. Must obtain South Dakota Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 90 days of hire.
