Job Summary
We are looking for a CNC Operator that handles daily machining operations, turning raw stock into high-precision components. They load pre-programmed code, secure raw materials, execute test runs, and monitor live production. While CNC Programmers write the primary code, operators must be skilled enough to read blueprints, measure parts with precision tools, and adjust machine offsets to fix minor errors.
Core Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Set up, calibrate, and run CNC machinery like mills, lathes, routers, and grinders.
- Blueprint Translation: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM designs to calculate production dimensions.
- Material Management: Load raw stock into machines safely and ensure precise clamping and alignment.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators to ensure strict compliance with design tolerances.
- Process Optimization: Adjust tool paths, cutting depths, feed rates, and machine speed settings during live production cycles.
- Routine Maintenance: Conduct basic equipment upkeep such as cleaning chips, maintaining fluid levels (coolant and oil), and changing out worn tool inserts.
- Safety Adherence: Strictly follow OSHA safety standards and company protocols to maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Aptitude: Solid understanding of CNC machine mechanics, basic G-code navigation, and tooling setup.
- Precision Measuring: High proficiency with hand-held measuring instruments like vernier calipers, micrometers, and templates.
- Mathematical Skills: Practical knowledge
- Attention to Detail: Keen eye for identifying hairline material defects and spotting subtle machine malfunctions early.
- Physical Stamina: Capability to stand for long manufacturing shifts and lift heavy raw materials
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent; a trade school certificate
Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
