Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Insurance Authorization Specialist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Review patient medical records and documentation to determine insurance authorization requirements.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility using EMR/EHR systems and other electronic tools.
- Submit insurance prior authorization requests accurately using appropriate CPT coding, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards.
- Follow up with insurance companies to track approval status and resolve any issues or delays promptly.
- Maintain detailed records of all authorization requests, approvals, denials, and related correspondence in compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives to clarify requirements and expedite approvals.
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations and health insurance policy guidelines throughout all processes.
- Answer multiline phones and schedule appointments.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical office administration, medical billing, or insurance verification within a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and EMR/EHR systems for documentation and record management.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and medical records management.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally across diverse audiences.
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance standards related to patient information privacy and security.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
