Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Metal Fabricator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming raw metal materials into precise, high-quality fabricated components used across various industries, including construction, manufacturing, and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in metal fabrication processes, interpret technical drawings accurately, and adhere strictly to safety protocols and industry standards such as AWS and ASME codes. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to complex projects requiring mechanical expertise, precision measurement skills, and proficiency with a variety of fabrication tools and welding techniques.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine fabrication specifications.
- Operate a range of hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and welding equipment including MIG, TIG, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and Gas Metal Arc Welding.
- Measure materials precisely using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Cut, shape, assemble, and weld sheet metal and other metal materials according to project specifications.
- Use rigging techniques for lifting and positioning heavy metal components safely on construction sites or within fabrication shops.
- Perform pipe threading, ductwork fabrication, and assembly of structural components adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain quality control by inspecting finished work against blueprints and technical schematics.
- Follow safety procedures diligently while operating machinery or working at heights on construction sites.
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines while ensuring compliance with industry standards such as AWS and ASME codes.
- Assist in the setup and operation of machining equipment when necessary for custom fabrication tasks.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in metal fabrication within a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings accurately.
- Familiarity with fabrication shop math, schematic reading, shop math calculations, and mechanical blueprint interpretation.
- Experience operating power tools, plasma cutters, press brakes, pipe threading machines, and other fabrication machinery.
- Ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers with precision.
- Mechanical knowledge related to construction site work or manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of safety protocols related to welding, rigging, machining, and working at heights.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Valid forklift certification or experience operating forklifts is advantageous.
- Knowledge of industry standards including AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) codes.
