About the Position
Service Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance with all Material Handling Equipment, automated systems, and conveyors involving all customers and vendors
Functions
- Performs corrective repairs and preventive maintenance on MHE, batteries, automated systems and conveyors in accordance with site and original equipment manufacturer standards
- Responsible for scheduling Planned Maintenance (PM) of all Fleet Services Equipment, automated systems, and conveyors, and keeping updated records of PM's completed.
- Execute preventive maintenance (PM) procedures in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications and guidelines and maintain accurate preventive maintenance records
- Create and process work orders accurately and efficiently in the maintenance management system.
- Use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, parts diagrams to troubleshoot engines, engine fuel systems, transmissions, automated systems, and conveyors, or other components on material handling equipment.
- Manage equipment condition and support repair readiness by reporting damage and maintaining accurate service and inventory records.
- Communicate with Parts team on parts and supplies needed to maintain equipment.
- Maintain parts inventory and repair records for all equipment by completing accurate paperwork.
- Conducts tests of safety equipment to ensure OSHA and operational standards.
- Comprehend and actively work toward achieving site-specific Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets and metrics.
- Must interact with customers and coworkers in a professional manner.
- Adhere to 5S workplace organization principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to maintain general cleanliness and ensure an organized, efficient and safe service area at all times.
- Support the Operating System by identifying ways to work more safely, efficiently, and effectively, and sharing ideas that help the team and company get better
Qualifications
- High school diploma, G.E.D. or tech school graduate required.
- 0 – 2 years of mechanic experience; preferably prior experience with repair and maintenance of material handling, automated systems, and conveyors, or similar equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems on multiple types of equipment and systems.
- Able to read and understand electrical and hydraulic system schematics.
- Self-motivated, self-directed, highly responsible, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to frequently lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
- Supply own mechanic technician hand tools.
- Must be able to safely operate lift trucks.
Key Responsibilities
Perform planned maintenance on electric, propane, and diesel forklifts. Diagnose and repair electrical forklift systems including motors, controllers, contactors, wiring, and battery chargers. Maintain industrial batteries, charging systems, and electrical components. Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems including pumps, cylinders, and valves. Repair mechanical systems such as brakes, steering, and mast assemblies. Use OEM diagnostic software, wiring diagrams, and service manuals to resolve issues. Complete accurate work orders and maintain parts inventory records. Ensure compliance with OSHA and manufacturer safety standards. Maintain clean and organized service areas following 5S practices.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; technical training preferred. 2-4 years of forklift or material handling equipment repair experience. Strong electrical troubleshooting and battery maintenance experience. Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics. ASE certification preferred. Must supply own hand tools. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in warehouse environments
