Job Title: Water Utility Worker
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Water Utility Worker to join our team and contribute to the efficient operation of water distribution systems. As a Water Utility Worker, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and installation of water mains, pipes, and related infrastructure. Your primary goal will be to ensure the continuous and safe delivery of clean water to our community.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect and Repair Water Infrastructure:
- Conduct regular inspections of water mains, pipes, valves, and other components of the water distribution system.
- Identify and repair leaks, breaks, and malfunctions promptly to minimize service disruptions.
- Install and Maintain Water Service Connections:
- Install new water service connections and meters for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
- Perform routine maintenance on water meters and associated equipment.
- Operate and Maintain Equipment:
- Utilize various tools and equipment, including backhoes, pipe cutters, and welding equipment, to perform maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition.
- Respond to Emergencies:
- Be available for on-call duty to respond to water emergencies and incidents outside regular working hours.
- Collaborate with emergency response teams to address and resolve issues promptly.
- Coordinate with Team Members:
- Collaborate with other water utility workers and team members to plan and execute projects efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
- Compliance with Regulations:
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory standards in all work activities.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes affecting water utility operations.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Compile data for reports and assist in the development of maintenance schedules.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training or certifications in water utility operations is a plus.
- Proven experience in water utility maintenance, repair, or a related field.
- Knowledge of water distribution systems, plumbing, and relevant tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
