This position is in the Special Design Program and Paraeducators may be reassigned during the year based on student enrollment or other factors.
Designed Instruction (DI) Paraeducator

Understanding of intellectual and developmental disabilities, including Autism.

Ability to complete Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and district de-escalation training.

Demonstrate agility, lifting, toileting, and personal care skills.

Follow multiple service care plans (e.g., BIPs, OT, PT, Health Care Plans).

Learn to use Assistive Technology devices (communication devices, computers, technology).

Support implementation of structured teaching strategies as directed by the DI teacher.

Assist with communication supports (visuals, schedules, reinforcement systems).

Collect and record student data as directed by the teacher or specialist to support progress monitoring and decision-making.

SALARY: LEVEL 35 on the Paraeducator (formerly Instructional Assistant) Salary Schedule. Experience increments depend on experience in the same or similar permanent position within a Washington State public school or another state's public school.
