Location: Morristown, NJ 07960
Shift: 36 hours/week (3 x 12-hour shifts or 4 x 10-hour shifts)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Travel Interventional Radiology Technologist to join the Special Procedures team at Morristown Medical Center. This position requires a highly skilled technologist with extensive experience assisting physicians during complex vascular and neuro-interventional procedures. The ideal candidate will possess advanced fluoroscopy expertise, strong sterile technique, excellent critical thinking skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced procedural environment.
This role closely aligns with a Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT); however, NJ Radiographic Licensure and ARRT (R) certification are mandatory to legally operate fluoroscopic imaging equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physicians during complex diagnostic and interventional vascular procedures.
- Scrub side-by-side with radiologists, vascular surgeons, and neuro-interventional specialists during procedures.
- Operate floor-mounted and ceiling-mounted fluoroscopic imaging systems.
- Prepare, identify, retrieve, and circulate specialized interventional supplies and devices.
- Assist with neuro-interventional and other high-acuity procedures while anticipating physician needs.
- Operate power injectors for iodinated contrast administration during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Maintain strict sterile technique and infection prevention standards throughout procedures.
- Prepare sterile procedural trays and equipment for daily case load.
- Perform post-procedure groin management and patient monitoring as appropriate.
- Utilize closed-loop communication to promote patient safety and effective teamwork.
- Accurately document procedures within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Transfer procedural images to Sectra/PACS imaging systems.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, vascular surgeons, nurses, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Deliver high-quality patient care while managing multiple complex procedures in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain compliance with departmental policies, radiation safety, and infection control standards.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 3–5 years of recent experience as an:
- Interventional Radiology Technologist OR
- Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) with New Jersey Radiographic Licensure
- Recent experience scrubbing and assisting during complex vascular and neuro-interventional procedures.
- Strong experience operating fluoroscopic imaging equipment.
- Experience with power injectors, contrast administration, and complex interventional products.
- Experience with PACS/Sectra and electronic medical record documentation.
Education
One of the following is required:
- High School Diploma or GED plus
- Associate Degree OR
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Current New Jersey Radiologic Technologist License
- Current ARRT (R) Certification
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or an equivalent accredited BLS certification with hands-on skills demonstration.

- Experience working in a high-volume interventional radiology department.
- Previous travel assignment experience is preferred but not required.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced Interventional Radiology Technologist who has strong scrub experience in complex vascular and neuro-interventional procedures, is confident operating fluoroscopic imaging equipment, possesses excellent critical thinking abilities, and works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary procedural team. Candidates with a Cardiovascular Technologist background are welcome only if they possess current New Jersey Radiographic Licensure and ARRT (R) certification.
Pay: $70.00 - $75.00 per hour
