Position Summary
The Critical Environment Technician (CET) is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and contaminant-free environment within critical spaces. This role may be performed in either a construction or non-construction environment. Directly supports critical infrastructure by adhering to strict safety, security, and cleanliness protocols and standards to protect sensitive equipment within critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Vacuum surfaces using HEPA-filter vacuums with microfiber attachments
- Clean and wipe surfaces using microfiber applicators and approved critical-space cleaning solutions
- Clean at ceiling heights, vacuum and wipe down surfaces, including but not limited to:
- Walls
- Ceiling tiles
- Rafters
- Conduit and piping
- Light fixtures
- Remove debris and trash from critical spaces
- Use approved ESD-safe or critical space cleaning tools and apparatuses
- Control dust and particulate levels to protect sensitive equipment within critical spaces
- Report safety hazards and cleanliness concerns to your direct supervisor
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to support other trades
- Follow all site safety protocols, including but not limited to:
- Risk Assessments
- Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
- Required safety meetings
- Adhere to strict site security protocols
- Wear appropriate PPE for specific tasks assigned to
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2–4 years of janitorial, custodial, or cleaning experience (critical environment experience preferred)
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Basic understanding of janitorial practices and procedures
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and safe handling practices
- Familiarity with CDC disinfecting guidelines and OSHA safety standards
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently
- Ability to work in construction and non-construction environments, including extreme temperatures
- Willingness to complete required training programs
- Comfortable using smartphones or mobile apps for timekeeping and communication
Schedule
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Days: Monday – Friday
- Break: 30-minute unpaid lunch
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are required
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach
- Lift up to 50 lbs; carry up to 40 lbs
- Work on ladders up to 6 feet
- Perform repetitive motions throughout the shift
