Duties
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and assist with seating arrangements, including host/hostess responsibilities when needed
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS, ensuring clear communication with kitchen staff and bar team
- Serve food and drinks promptly while maintaining high standards of presentation and sanitation
- Process sales transactions efficiently, including cash handling, credit card processing, and upselling additional menu items like wines or spirits to enhance guest experience
- Maintain thorough knowledge of menu offerings, including wine and cocktail options, to provide recommendations and answer guest questions confidently
- Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are upheld during food handling, serving, and cleanup procedures
- Assist with bussing tables, resetting dining areas quickly during busy periods, and supporting overall guest relations to foster a welcoming environment
Skills
- Proven experience in food service or restaurant environments with a strong understanding of hospitality principles
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS, Micros POS, or similar platforms for order entry and sales processing
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage guests positively and handle inquiries professionally
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently during high-volume shifts
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper sanitation practices in the food industry
- Ability to upsell menu items confidently using sales techniques like OpenTable reservations or drink recommendations
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately and calculating bills or tips
- Experience with beverage service including spirits, wine knowledge, cocktail preparation, and drink presentation
- Previous roles involving serving, bartending, cashiering, or host/hostess duties are highly valued
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining a lively and energetic attitude
