At Quality Edge, we specialize in manufacturing of aluminum and steel exterior building products – including siding, soffit, fascia, trim coil, gutter protection, and other building accessory products. We are seeking a highly engaged and technically strong Production Maintenance Manager to lead all maintenance and equipment reliability activities within a high-volume manufacturing environment specializing in roll forming and automated production systems.
This position is responsible for the overall performance of the maintenance department, including equipment reliability, preventive maintenance execution, team development, safety compliance, capital planning, and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable leading from the plant floor and collaborating with senior leadership to establish and execute long-term maintenance strategies.
The ideal candidate possesses experience with roll forming equipment, Mitsubishi PLC systems, automation technologies, and proven leadership capabilities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Leadership & Department Management
- Lead all maintenance operations across 3 shifts.
- Develop and execute maintenance strategies that support production, safety, quality, and cost objectives.
- Establish departmental goals, metrics, and accountability systems.
- Drive a strong culture of urgency, ownership, and customer service toward production operations.
- Partner with Operations leadership to maximize equipment uptime and manufacturing throughput.
- Manage maintenance staffing levels, scheduling, and workforce planning.
Reliability & Asset Management
- Own the overall reliability of roll forming lines, presses, conveyors, packaging systems, and supporting equipment.
- Lead preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
- Analyze downtime trends and implement corrective actions to improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
- Utilize root cause analysis methodologies to eliminate recurring equipment failures.
- Develop and maintain long-term equipment replacement and capital improvement plans.
- Ensure accurate maintenance records, PM completion tracking, and equipment history documentation.
Technical Leadership
- Provide guidance and support in troubleshooting complex electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls issues.
- Support maintenance personnel in diagnosing Mitsubishi PLC, HMI, VFD, and automation-related problems.
- Partner with Engineering on equipment upgrades, process improvements, and automation projects.
- Lead implementation of new technologies that improve productivity, reliability, and safety.
Financial & Resource Management
- Develop and manage departmental operating budget.
- Monitor maintenance spending and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Manage vendor relationships, contractor performance, and spare parts inventory.
- Review and approve purchases related to maintenance activities.
- Ensure efficient use of labor, materials, and outside resources.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Champion compliance with all OSHA, MIOSHA, LOTO, machine guarding, arc-flash, and environmental requirements.
- Help lead investigations and corrective actions related to equipment safety incidents.
- Ensure maintenance practices support product quality and customer requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety performance throughout the maintenance organization.
Talent Development
- Recruit, retain, and develop maintenance professionals.
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching sessions, and career development planning.
- Build technical capabilities across mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines.
- Develop succession plans for key maintenance positions.
- Foster a culture focused on accountability, teamwork, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications Required:
- 8+ years of industrial maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of progressive maintenance leadership experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- Roll forming equipment or related metal forming processes
- Mitsubishi PLC systems
- Electrical controls, drives, sensors, and automation technologies
- Mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Experience leading preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Demonstrated success improving uptime, reducing downtime, and increasing equipment reliability.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Maintenance Management, or related field.
- Experience in manufacturing industries including building products, metal forming, automotive, or industrial fabrication.
- Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, or Reliability-Centered Maintenance experience.
- CMRP, CMRP-equivalent, or other maintenance/reliability certifications.
- Experience managing maintenance budgets and capital projects.
