Overtime: Occasional Saturday and OT required
Position Overview
The Tool Maker will plan, construct, alter, and repair a wide range of tools, jigs, fixtures, prototypes, and special parts. The role requires advanced manual machining skills, complex setups, tight tolerances, and CNC and EDM experience.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and layout machining assignments and determine operation sequence

Perform complex manual and CNC machining with close tolerances

Calculate shrinkage and expansion allowances

Perform heat treating, tempering, grinding, lapping, and fitting work

Troubleshoot tooling issues and recommend modifications

Conduct tool tryouts and correct performance problems

Set up, program, and operate EDM and CNC equipment

Report design errors and coordinate with Engineering

Assist in training junior tool makers

Work with Engineering and Production on tooling refinements

Develop engineering models from sketches and drawings

Maintain safe and clean work area
Required Qualifications

Minimum 4+ years manual machining experience

Experience with manual milling operations

Experience with manual lathes including threading

Proficient with precision measuring tools

Strong blueprint reading skills

Basic trigonometry and math skills

Ability to pass Tool Maker A written and physical test

High school diploma or equivalent
