Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- The NP demonstrates core and unit specific competencies based on the patient population served: must have exemplary customer service skills to present a consistent and coordinated high quality patient experience; must defend and preserve the rights of patients relative to all aspects of care, information knowledge, and privacy; must demonstrate respect for cultural diversity with patients, involved others, coworkers and other health care team members
Duties include:
- Evaluation and treatment of walk-in and scheduled patients;
- Obtaining history and physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing, venipuncture and injections, minor office procedures, patient counseling and education and prescribing and adjusting medications and treatments;
- Administration of medications by IM/IV/SC/PO route and related activities;
- Triaging patient complaints and symptoms/signs (in person, by phone, by video or other electronic means);
- Working to improve patient adherence and retention in care;
- Performing phlebotomy and other specimen collection when necessary;
- Educating patients on risk reduction techniques;
- Assisting other staff with examinations and specimen collection.
- Participating as an active member in team meetings, clinical flow improvement and QI/QA
- Documenting and billing for all clinical encounters accurately and in a timely way as per Montefiore Nyack standards.

- Have knowledge of computers and be able to document in an electronic health record
- Be detailed oriented and flexible with working hours to accommodate the needs of the facility
