The SCHECHTER SCHOOL of LONG ISLAND () is a conservative Jewish Day School in Nassau County, New York, known for small classes, a rigorous academic program, including Regents and AP classes, and a warm nurturing environment.
We are seeking full-time Lower School Jewish Studies Teachers starting immediately and for the 2026-27 academic year.
Lower School Jewish Studies Teachers
Candidates will be team oriented and should:
- Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; a teaching credential from an accredited institution (North America or Israel) is preferred.
- Be experienced in teaching Tefillah, Chaggim, Chumash/Parashat HaShavua, Hebrew.
- Have fluency in Hebrew and familiarity with iTalAm curriculum.
- Demonstrate good classroom management skills.
- Be committed to meaningful collaboration with colleagues.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and commitment to keeping parents informed and engaged.
- Be interested in professional growth and commitment to continuous learning.
Duties and responsibilities:
- As a Jewish Studies Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire students to engage deeply with Judaic texts, traditions, and values while fostering critical thinking and a love for learning. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about creating an engaging and meaningful learning environment and in shaping the spiritual and intellectual development of their students.
- Teach grade-level Jewish content centered around Tefillah, Chaggim, Chumash/Parashat HaShavua, Hebrew Language
- Attend scheduled department, faculty, and professional development meetings and participate in school events during and after school hours
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
