About the Role
We are looking for a Lead Mechanical Product Designer to spearhead the development of complex sheet metal enclosures and integrated electromechanical systems. You will bridge the gap between technical engineering and commercial viability, ensuring that every design is optimized for both high-performance functionality and cost-effective manufacturing.
Responsibilities-
Engineer robust sheet metal chassis, brackets, and enclosures using SolidWorks, ensuring precision in every detail.
-
Develop comprehensive electromechanical assemblies, incorporating hardware, cabling, and structural mounting solutions.
-
Produce high-quality manufacturing documentation, including detailed drawings, GD&T specifications, and finish requirements.
-
Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to streamline fabrication processes like laser cutting, forming, and welding.
-
Perform structural integrity assessments and tolerance stack-up analyses to guarantee product reliability.
-
Generate accurate cost estimates and detailed BOMs to support competitive quoting and project proposals.
-
Partner with cross-functional teams to drive value engineering initiatives that reduce production costs without sacrificing quality.
Qualifications-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
-
5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design, specifically within sheet metal fabrication.
-
Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software, with a strong preference for SolidWorks.
-
Expertise in applying ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards to complex mechanical drawings.
-
Deep understanding of material properties and metal finishing processes such as powder coating and anodizing.
-
Proven experience with FEA tools for structural or thermal analysis.
-
Familiarity with industry standards including NEMA, IP ratings, and UL/CE compliance.
-
Background in managing product data and revision control within PLM or PDM systems.
-
Experience with EMI/RFI shielding design and electronic packaging techniques.
-
Strong analytical mindset with a focus on balancing technical performance against commercial budget constraints.
