Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and quality standards, maintaining consistency across all dishes.
- Assist in menu planning by suggesting creative ideas and ensuring ingredient availability.
- Follow food safety protocols and safety standards during all stages of food production to prevent contamination and ensure a safe working environment.
- Handle food with care, utilizing proper food handling techniques, knife skills, slicing methods, and food preparation procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including equipment sanitation and proper storage of ingredients.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service and smooth kitchen operations during busy hours.
- Support catering events or special functions by preparing large quantities of food while adhering to safety standards.
Skills
- Proven experience in food service, restaurant kitchens, or culinary environments with a strong foundation in kitchen operations.
- Knowledge of dietary department practices and dietary aide experience is a plus.
- Skilled in meal preparation, food handling, and cooking techniques including slicing, chopping, and plating.
- Familiarity with food safety management practices and adherence to safety standards in production environments.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques for various ingredients.
- Experience with menu planning, catering, or serving in a fast-paced setting is highly desirable.
