Runner (Driver) — Event Catering Staff
Location: Twin Cities Area, MN
Job Type: Part-time / Full-time, Event-Based (W-2, Seasonal)
Pay: $16.00 - 18.00/hour
About the Role
Runners are the link between our kitchen and the event site — transporting food, managing the timeline, and helping wherever needed on show day. We're building a team of runners for events in the Twin Cities area.
Training
Full training provided — including van loading and unloading, food safety handling procedures, run timing, and all event-day logistics. No prior experience with our specific systems required.
Schedule
Shifts are scheduled through Connecteam as events are booked. Because this is event-based work, your schedule will vary week to week rather than following a fixed weekly shift. We typically staff 4–7 events per month, with notice ranging from a couple of weeks to just a few days out depending on the tour. Shifts can run anywhere from 6–9+ hours depending on the day's meals. Hours are not guaranteed and will vary; the more available you are in Connecteam, the more shifts you'll be offered.
What You'll Do
- Drive the company van between the kitchen and event site on a fixed run schedule (breakfast, lunch, and dinner transport)
- Load and unload food safely — hot boxes, coolers, and equipment — following food safety procedures
- Help the kitchen and site team confirm every menu item is packed before departing
- Assist with buffet setup and breakdown on-site when time allows between runs
- Return food, dishes, and equipment to the kitchen; help with cleanup, hotel pan turnover, and end-of-night wrap-up
- Make shopping/supply runs as needed
- Communicate proactively with the Shift Lead about timing and availability throughout the day
What We're Looking For
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (required)
- Comfortable driving a full-size van in varied traffic and weather conditions
- Prior food service, catering, or delivery/driving experience a plus
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to shifts once accepted
- Food handler's certification a plus, not required
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift and carry up to 25–40 lbs repeatedly (hotel pans, coolers, supply bins)
- Able to load/unload a van and stand for extended periods
- Comfortable driving multiple trips per shift, sometimes under time pressure
Perks
- Meals provided on-site during shifts
- Mileage reimbursement when using a personal vehicle for approved runs or shopping trips (company van provided for standard routes)
- Opportunity to work events with touring artists and crews
Pay: $16.00 - $18.50 per hour
Benefits:
- Employee discount
- Food provided
- Paid time off
Work Location: In person
